Bus trip

Today I'm leaving the little farm I've been staying in the past month. My host freaked out when I told her I've been hitchhiking a lot in New Zealand. So for her sake I'll be taking a bus today for the first time since I got to this country. I'm going to Arthur's pass and then out tramping. I'll be in the backcountry for a week or two. So probably no updates here for a while. The weather forecast looks good and I'm excited. Even though the scenery here is quite ok, I think I'll see better during the next few days :-)
Although I'm gonna miss my nice host and her nice animals.

Riding westernstyle

Today my host arranged for me and my fellow wwoofer to go for a ride with her friend and his wwoofer. It was really nice!

Thanks David for taking us! And thanks Sharon for organizing nice activities for us!

More animals!

Sorry for not updating for a while! I haven't had much to tell. I'm still wwoofing at the same place. Although last weekend the neighbours went away and we (I've got a wwoofing friend here) got to take care of their animals too. A horse, a pony, hens, a cow, a calf and 6 puppies!

(unwanted) animal of the day

This series is actually finished as I've portrayed all the animals here. But this one live with us until we killed it.
It's not the first one I've caught. We have four traps in the kitchen. It's something that happens on the countryside this time of year. It gets colder outside and the mice come in and try to join the fun. Sorry little friends! We're not willing to share our food and warmth with you...

Autumn approaching

Today has been rainy. I went out for a run in the morning and got soaked. I suspect winter in New Zealand is going to be wet. And yesterday we turned into winter time. Now the evenings are darker.

But yesterday was nice! My host took me to the beach. And I had what might have been the last swim for the summer :-D

Market day in Lyttelton

Yesterday my host took me,her friend and her friends two wwoofers to Lyttelton in Christchurch. It's right by the sea, next to Bank's Peninsula. So very scenic. And there was a nice market, we all did some shopping :-)
